I got my morning laugh on this.. thought I'd share.

But the main site page was also interesting: The VA recognizes Pentacles as a religious symbol? According to: The Aquarian Tabernacle Church and The VA Available Emblems List it does.

Yeah! It's Frigga Taeg!

I love the VA list - especially the "not displayed due to copyrights" for Christian Scientists and the Islam 5-pointed star.

Kerry Howley at Reason.com has a great entry-comment on this list:

Five Easy Points -

Bobby: I'd like a Bahai 9-pointed star, plain, and a Buddhist wheel of righteousness, no inner circle, no spokes. And a cup of coffee.

Waitress: A #15, plain, and a #2, hold the inner circle, the spokes, and a cup of coffee. Anything else?

Bobby: Yeah, now all you have to do is take 4 of the points off the star, point it upward, hold the righteousness, put the circle from the wheel around the star, give me a check for both, and you haven't broken any rules.

Waitress: You want me to hold the righteousness, huh?

Bobby: I want you to hold it between your knees.

Like many of them, I was wondering where the Scientologists were...

The VA recognizes Pentacles as a religious symbol?

This is only a very recent development (last month or two). We've been following it because one of the guys who's been fighting the VA over it is in our local coven. I'm on a limited access, backup computer right now or I'd link to more information. I'll try to remember to put something up this weekend.

Um... I blame my sub-par computer for my lack of noticing that the original post already included a link to the ATC's efforts...

Maybe Nancy will chime in, but I've been hanging around the Christian Scientists for a couple of years now and I have not noticed the Cross and Crown much. Their symbology (from my perspective) is typically minimalist and fairly generic. The Cross and Crown seal seems to be 'Trademarked', and with the publishing bent of the Mother Church I am sure it is protected by astute lawyers. One of the things I like about the Christian Scientists I've met and been a guest in several of their homes, is that there seems to be little or no outward sign. No "WWJD" bracelets, or "God/Jesus Loves Me" bumper stickers.. It's all very internal, very personal, very spiritual. It's not a flag to wave, it's something to "be".
