Side by Side Google and Microsoft Maps - really nice job syncing them up, either of them to the other. Very interesting when comparing imagery.

Google's data seems a bit more dated for the Chattanooga area.

There's no deck on my house in the Google data and the deck's been here at least 4 years. Further, the pics of Ann's house on Google show none of the deck work we did there and no pool in her neighbor's yard. Those improvements were done 5 or 6 years ago, at least. The Microsoft data would be about 2 years old, at the most, judging by the boat in my neighbor's yard which they've only had about 2 years.

You'll find it varies by area. The best free house pics I've seen are via Zillow when you clck 'view this house' and get a "birds eye view". It loos like a lower angle (plane?) image of my house, and it's fairly recent.

In exploring some places I'm about to visit for business reasons, I find Google is much more current, and http://wikimapia.org can have some interesting notes in it about cheap motels and red light districts.

I just dislike the annoying black blocks that seem to happen in MSVE that I rarely get on google maps. Zoomed out and zoomed in on my house, they appear in different places.

What I find interesting is the places that Google has "street view". Nothing near 'nooga, but I can look at the driveways of both my sister and my parents outside the town of Whitehouse in rural Ohio.
