Shadow forwarded along this video of a velodrome bike race crash that makes me even more nervous about riding amongst people in a competitive environment. One guy slips on a turn, and total yard sale.

I can't even quite make out what that middle guy did to lose it...
I know you're not paying attention to the Tour, but there was a fairly spectacular crash a few days ago when somebody ran right over a smallish road sign -- got some pretty big air and snapped his nice carbon fibre frame right in half!

Yeah, you can see where his wheel turns sharply left, and though I can't conclusively tell from the camera angle it looks like he's well ahead of the guy to his right, so it's not like he got tapped from that side.
I need to get out and ride more, hearing about crashes is spooking me...

They were also entering the steeper bank in the turn...
Did you notice that flying front wheel? The guy in the front of the wreck (by the end) managed to get his arm stuck through it! Talk about a 1-in-a-million!
