unresolved anthrax questions

Fascinating and worth at least a skim: Vital unresolved anthrax questions and ABC News - Glenn Greenwald - Salon.com. Following up on the recent suicide of a suspect in the anthrax mailings, where that suspect got his anthrax, and how ABC News initially reported 4 sources offering evidence tying the anthrax to Iraq, evidence that was later shown to be completely false.

The Ivins therapist has 7 dwi arrests, one as recent as the end of 2007, which was adjudicated just 3 months ago. . In MD, its 3 strikes and you lose your license for good. Why is she still driving? She also got charged with beating her husband. Ivins on the other hand, had no arrests or any problems with the police until the therapist filed for an order of protection.

Just like the attempt to pin the olympic bombing on Richard Jewell, and the previous attempt to make Steven Hatfill the patsy for the anthrax attacks, this is looking more and more like a real smear campaign against Ivins, using people who can be blackmailed into saying just about anything.

The FBI has published some of their papers pertaining to Ivins' involvement in the case, it's particularly interesting to read through the warrant application affidavits for stuff that sounds incriminating until you look at what they're leaving out. I've never read a search warrant affidavit before, so I've nothing to compare against, but thi is not a balanced look at the situation. There are one or two potentially damning things I've run across so far, but when I look at what's been deliberately omitted from some of the other stuff I start to question the credibility of some of the statements made in the affidavits a lot. If, indeed, this was an investigation gone wrong and there was some ass-covering happening, that actually makes as credible an explanation as anything.
