Washington has a "death with dignity" proposal on the ballot. Dan Savage writes about it:

While I agree entirely with the sentiment (I watched my Grandfather die), I don't like the rules. Specifically, it's too restrictive. I think a person has the right to off themselves in a humane way.

I also wonder how they can manage rule #14:

The patient may change their mind at any time.

Unless the means of death is instantaneous, "at any time" includes the period after the pill is swallowed and the poison goes to work.

It's disappointing to see good ideas turned into bad legislation.

Yeah, good law is really hard to write.
