Turn off or change channel

Parents TV against: $#*! My Dad Says We seldom watch "TV" anymore, but thanks to the Parents Television Council I'll have to hunt this down and check it out. Checking out the preview on YouTube, it's not the constant string of profanity they seem to think it is. Shatner playing "Ed" reminds me of Archie bunker.

People seem to forget there is always a choice. As a parent, you should have some control over what your child prodigy is exposed to until the age of reason (which varies). The ultimate control is the channel selection and the off switch. Otherwise, we would still be watching Lassie and I Love Lucie. Just imagine life without South Park and the Simpsons. Sigh...

With very few exceptions, there isn't much on TV worth watching the deluge of advertisements for. Hopefully it'll be on NetFlix or Hulu sans ads or with at least better targeted ones.

I also have been enjoying the original Twitter posts. I'm happy for the guy who started it, but have suspected all along that the TV show would be a let down. Now that I've seen the preview on YouTube I'm sure of it.

Just another generic sit-com with just another ratings ploy. Yawn. I'll go back to my non-broadcast TV watching now.

Nerd giggle:

Huh, according to the Twitter cross-posting of this, "$#" evaluates to "0" somewhere on the road to Twitdom.

I've been reading SH*T MY DAD SAYS on FB for some time now...it's hilarious. From FB/Twitter to a book deal and a TV series...not bad for a 29 year old who lives at home, eh? More power to him!

Gosh, haven't heard that name in years - Dan Martino was a sweetheart of a man....away from the nutty places he would protest. I worked in the produce section of a grocery store and he'd come in, smile and joke with you. I also worked as Kool-Aid man and I remember him coming up to me at a food fair and patting me on the stomach (big inflatable red stomach) and saying, "you've got a bit of a weight problem".

Don't dispute that they exist, I lived in Chattanooga for nigh on to a decade... I remember. And, in fact, just a little north of here (and even here in Petaluma sometimes) we get far enough out of the Bay Area bubble that the ugly raises its head.

To your comparison to Archie Bunker, though, if I remember right Norman Lear raised quite a bit of hullabaloo with that show.

There is some of that, isn't there :). I remember considering paying Dan Martino to picket Chattanooga Online for the porn on the internet.

My current offices are down the hall from Bible in the Schools, such people and organizations do exist.

I think that if PTC didn't exist, CBS would be forced to invent them in order to publicize shows like this.
