That only adds the theory that the guy was a pot dealer who took the laptop in trade. He didn't expect the cops to get a search warrant. He didn't "leave four jail bands" at the site of the original crime. They we left in his house. He also didn't think to wipe the laptop and reinstall the OS. Dude was just a pothead dealer who ended up with the wrong guy's laptop.

Breaking into the car was wrong but I feel sort of bad for the dude who got busted. Sounds like he was just a pot dealer and, chances are, the guy was given the laptop in payment for a bag of weed. In Colorado, he'd be charged with "practicing medicine with a license" or some such.
