Joe surprised me at work with a new Macbook Pro with the "Retina Display".. it's now tethered to 2 thunderbolts on my desk as well. I have to admit, size and pixels do matter.

Guy in the neighboring cube got a Mac something, the little tiny 12" one, with a retina display. Yeah, it's amazing.
I'm looking around for a sub-notebook running Windows as a music box for square dance calling (well, a little more than that, it needs to run CSDS), and... must refrain from going overboard...

Agreed. I got a retina display at work last fall and it's easily the biggest improvement in display technology since the switch to LCDs. I've been looking at pixels for what feels like my entire life - it's amazing to no longer be able to resolve the individual jaggies stairstepping their way around every curve.
