The only time I've been in Las Vegas was on a lay-over, flying from San Francisco to Tucson. The people I was with took a cab to the Strip, but I didn't feel like going, so I hung out with the bags.

Because of that, there are a couple things burned into my CNS, hard tied to mention of Vegas:

First, the bad third-rank celeb Walk left, stand right PSAs that played endlessly in the walkways of the airport.

Second, the slots that were surrounded by Plexiglass, so that people could smoke and play. The only thing was, the ventillation wasn't working that well in the one I saw, so the whole setup looked like a smoky blue Plexiglass column -- packed with people, their gear, and their kids.

I only have one disagreement about vegas. There is a way to socialize. Every once and a while I'll get together with a mid sized group of friends from college and we'll do it in vegas. First because it is typically cheap to get there and cheap to say for a weekend. Second, when you actually fill out a whole table of $5 blackjack you get to chat for hours and all the free drinks you want. I believe that worst we were ever down as a group was $30 and $100 for one individual.
