Life in the city

2002-06-28 21:54:44+00 by Dan Lyke 5 comments

After my dentist's appointment this morning, walked past a couple of zealots protesting outside the Ninth Circuit US Court of Appeals on the previously mentioned Pledge of Allegiance shenanigans, being covered by about the same number of TV news folks. Took a picture, but I'm not set to upload it right now. Waiting for the light to cross a young lad approached me for advice on a counter-protest involving... well, I'm not sure, 'cause he wasn't terribly coherent, but I believe it involved an American flag and his anus. Wandered on to work, where I was promptly convinced that there is indeed a deity: I'm working on a Windows Installer issue this afternoon. Definitely the work of some supernatural entity plotting to get me. Bastard.

Yup and She's making Bush go through a colonoscopy to punish him and making Cheney the president to punish me. God's a BITCH sometimes too.

My favorite response to the Pledge debacle (in a head-shaking, eye-rolling kind of way) is a car dealer in Yakima (WA) who says that he's going to tack on an extra $10,000 for any customer who tells him s/he doesn't believe in "God". (Of course, I can't find an online reference for it now - saw the story on the news.)

So, Dan, which sounded like more fun: going to work to deal with Windows Installer or helping a protestor shove a flag up his ass?

Huh. Ya know, if I could've shoved Windows Installer... Or any object whatsoever up the anus of designer of Windows Installer...

Shawn, don't suppose that guy's got any sort of "we'll beat any price or give you $100" sort of shysterism going on, does he? A sympathetic DA and a few charges of false advertising might be worth an hour or two of leg work.

Dunno. I can't find him at all now. And Yakima's not a place I've gone since my National Guard days (two weeks a year at the Yakima Training Center) and my brother and sister in-law moved away from there.
