OK tech like GPS is very cool but leave it to some miscreant to twist it into some evil use. Not disclosing the GPS device is where they crossed WAAAAY over the line. If capitalism works properly they will be severly spanked by consumer backlash.

If it were part of 'On-Star' or a similiar service, I could see not overtly disclosing it, as the system is very visible. I'll also take the point of view that it's their car/truck and they can do what they want to with it, but they should plainly disclose such capabilities and intentions.

And my choice in rental car companies.. would be influenced by what they have and do. I'd pay more for an On-Star or similiar equipped vehicle when doing business trips in strange places. I already take my GPS.

But if I were doing a recreational trip, I'd rather not be tracked. My Nextel cell phone already enables those capabilities well enough.
