Back from Burning Man

2002-09-03 16:13:40+00 by Dan Lyke 1 comments

After 10 hours in the left seat, pulling a trailer way too heavy for the car, and at least one wrong turn which hastened the demise of my clutch and made me back the trailer a long way with no possibility of pulling forward to undo any mistakes, we pulled in at home at 1:00 this morning. I will remember 2002 as the Burning Man I did for other people, not totally satisfying, but good enough that I haven't ruled out a return next year. It was fun camping on the esplanade with Firetown, but I won't be camping there next year. Kiki's Egeria was definitely the highlight, my piece was a total bust, the foam was incompatible with the desert, Charlene's piece got great comments, Meuon seemed to have a blast. Oxy-acetylene brazing is easier than MIG for thin bicycle tubing. It took me two showers to start to feel clean again, but I'm smiling. Lots.

Ouch.. is your car OK? Yes, I had a blast, and yes, you did this BM for other people, including me, and I wanted to say thank you. THANK YOU!

As for the other projects you were roped into.. you let yourself be roped into them, I was on vacation and enjoyed not being responsible for fixing other peoples stuff.

I'll be back next year, in style and I'd be honored if you'd camp near me. A small RV or trailer of some kind will be involved to solve kitchen and waste water logistics, because I want to spend more time chillin, working on my projects, meeting people, and partying.. and more skateboarding on the playa.
