More gay marriage

Governor fears unrest unless same-sex marriages are halted:

"All of a sudden, we see riots, we see protests, we see people clashing. The next thing we know, there is injured or there is dead people. We don't want it to get to that extent,'' the Republican said in his first appearance as governor on a Sunday talk show.

"Those are some nice windows youse gots there, wouldn't wanna see 'em broken or nuthin'. Luckily for a small fee my boys can keep an eye on your shop.", he did not continue.

Marraige needs to be redefined by insurance (health/life) companies, banks, credit card companies and other such entities... Just let me designate a 'significant life partner' with them, pay the premiums as such.. include them on my policy, share a bank account.. The requirements should be simple: someone you live with at least 50+% of the time, and intend to for at least _[Wiki] months/years. A simple designation, useful to the real world. A ceremony, public or private, is for the partners and their friends and family to be a part of and witness the commitement and public declaration of love and should be a 'who cares' to the state. Lets get the service providers to change their definitions, the state will follow the money. -- And I'm straight.. very straight.. I'm just tired of the BS. If the two nice ladies living together down the street want to be 'married' to show their commitement and share some legal responsibilities and priviledges in society, we should support them. Sure beats all of the 'living in sin shacked up couples' we are supporting with our tax dollars in the projects.

I'm thinking of having a ceremony to declare chocolate pistacio buttercreams from Rembrants as my favorite chocolate indulgence for life, and would like to invite all of you to attend Rembrants in the art district to share in this wonderful moment at 9pm Sunday, February 29th.. If you can't attend in person, enjoy a piece of chocolate with me where ever you are.

That was very well put :)

My new company provides benefits for domestic partners, and that makes me happy.

Dang it, no way I can make it, but I will try to track down chocolate pistachio buttercreams and celebrate in spirit.

Starbreeze, that's something that mildly concerns me about gay marriage: That domestic partnership might drop by the wayside. I don't want to get married, even for health insurance benefits, but I can see scenarios in which marriage would be useful.

It's too bad I'll just be getting into the San Jose airport a few hours before you have your chocolate. We definitely need to meet up at some point.

Clearly a Mark Morford fan.

Just a little bit. Speaking of which, I should make him a topic of his own...

He's a bit further left even than me, but it's fun to watch him rave...

and to ponder on the fact that even though he *is* further left than me, his rants don't *offend* me.
