Get-togethers

2004-08-18 04:04:16.838059+00 by Dan Lyke 7 comments

Saturday, November 6th, I've signed up for BloggerCon. And Diane reminds me that we need to do a South Bay Flutterby (et al) get together soon. Anyone got ideas on a venue where we could do dinner or drinks (but allow under 21 for Greg)or whatever and hang out and chat for a while?

Finally, Meuon is coming out for Burning Man[Wiki] and at the very least I'd drive up to Reno to have dinner with him. Anyone else I've missed?

There's Coffee Society at Stevens Creek and Hwy 85, which has plenty of couches, but doesn't serve 'dinner'.

That is a thought I'm humbled by.. If Nancy did not have a real job, I'd be swinging by San Francisco to see you. It's going to be a quick trip as it is, not much dawdling either way.

Bloggercon? As in on the Harvard campus? Hmm. Maybe I'll have to sign up and brave the Boston metro traffic, Dan. Maybe we can hang out together for the day. ~ Deb

In venue-searching mode... For those who came to the SF-based age-restricted gathering last month, how did the space work? What was good about it, what could have been better? What was absolutely essential to making it a success, other than the attenders? Room to mill about? No set tables (e.g. non-restaurant-like)? Soft places to sit? Liquor? Music? Art? Food? Give me some ideas and I'll get cracking. (Bill, I like Coffee Society also -- the South Bay NaNoWriMos meet there once a week, and more often in November -- but I suspect it won't work for this sort of gathering.)

meuon, if there's any way above-referenced Greg and I can join Dan in running up to Reno to dine with you, we'll do it! It's a bit of a haul, though... you're sure y'all can't swing by the Bay Area?

>you're sure y'all can't swing by the Bay Area?> Diane - I'm the fly in the ointment, since I have to be back in Chattanooga for work. But please know that if there's anyway for it to work out, I'm all in favor -- Nancy

There's a Hobee's right next to the Coffee Society on Steven's Creek, and Hobee's does serve a good dinner. They also have a back room (where the Silicon Valley Patterns reading group meets most Tuesdays) and a back porch, which should be a pleasant place to meet and chat this time of year.
