bike wifi

Last night I was talking to the proprietor of Outer Geek. He doesn't have his pictures linked in any way that'd make them easy to link to aside from linking to the front page, but he's got an interesting setup for mounting a laptop with an external keyboard on his bike so that he can look for WiFi during his commute.

I pointed him towards Nomadic Research Labs.

Gosh, I remember the Winnebiko/Behemoth Wow, what a heavy kludge. I have urges to do the same thing (but more practical), but with modern technology: Flexible solar panels.. lower power laptops/hpc with WiFi and a cell phone/data link. I'm thinking the whole technology package should be.. 3-5 lbs? a small battery and a charger ala: This 5 watt charger. should keep a phone (also my mp3 player) charged. Unlike "Outer Geek" - I don't want to use a computer while travelling, but if my phone snagged e-mails on the 'a-list' email address it would be useful.
