A guest rant from Todd: Mystery Men review

Did you like Batman? Did you laugh at those jokes? gags? and spoofs? This movie will have you rolling in the aisles. I found the first Batman movie mildly fun and then found them to become progressively more painful (if they make another it will set new standards in film making).......ummmm back to Mystery Men

The sound scoring is fun but nothing special. The basic story is actually pretty good although I think the junior writers were the clever ones as there were lots of "little" funny things and some of the bigger gags fall flat. The director should be shot (out of a cannon without a helmet) as he took a film that could have been "very good" and made it "ok/fair". The timing is off in a lot of places and is only saved by a few spots of pretty darn good acting (i.e. Greg Kinner's Captain Amazing) but the films main saving graces are the little gags like PMS Avenger(she only works 4 days a month) and well.....I won't spoil. My recommendation is to rent when it comes out in 3 months or matinee it if your in a very wacky mood.

Rating: One thumb sawed off

On a lighter note Shakespeare in Love has been released (just bought the DVD) and is well worth your time. If you don't like it then your a heretic and I don't like you either.......
