The decline of Salon

Written to the editors of Salon:

It used to be that Salon was my first-checked website in between reading my morning emails. I bought into the whole membership thing, even asking if I could just send the money without the perks, 'cause I didn't need the merchandise.

But just a couple of months later Salon comes across like the Sunday "Parade" section of the "local" corporately owned newspaper, only without the cutting-edge hipness. I'm looking at ways to automatically filter it because there are a few authors I like (Keith Knight, Susie Bright), but I find so little of interest that reading the front page has become a waste of my time.

What happened? Did you guys get an editor from New York City or LA or something? Bring back the Salon I know and loved before I'm forced to turn you over to a Perl script which will alert me only when something it deems interesting shows up.
