I think the idea for not wanting their children attending these classes isn't because they want their children to continue bullying gays, lesbians and transgenders nor is it because they believe these classes will turn their children into gays, lesbians or transgendered children. No, the reason is that they believe that these classes will cause their children to be more inclined to accept gay lifestyles as normal. I'll disagree with the parents about their ideas on homosexuality and homosexuals but I have to agree that they should have the right to keep their children out of these classes.

Larry,

I absolutely agree that I don't think these parents are telling their children that they *should* be beating up their gay classmates or even that its OK if they do.

At the same time, though, I think their reaction comes from the same place that said whites were going to be enslaved as the result of civil rights legislation.

Mark, I don't disagree with you at all. I just think that when people believe that evangelicals are worried that attending sensitivity training classes turning their children gay they are putting themselves in a situation of not being able to address their fears. You have to understand where people are really coming from to come to any sort of understanding with them.
