while i am impressed with lada gagas wardrobe (straight from the fetish scene) i dont fathom the depth of her success. But it is really a who cares...

Well, now, hang on a second, Dan - I think I can deride them as thoroughly manufactured without implying they had no agency in that. I think Lady Gaga has done all her her own manufacturing, for sure - all of her bizarre attention-seeking seems to be of her own devising - but she is no less an artificial creature for being entirely of her own artifice.
Or, shorter version: Being an empty construct doesn't automatically imply the existence of a puppeteer.
