Hey Dick's Sporting Goods: when you share my search information from your site, you're giving away marketing data that is letting competitors deluge me with ads to order that product online. Since you're not managing inventory well, I'm tempted.

Dick's is one of the few stores I've had to call from the inside to get any acknowledgement from staff.

Dick's is probably making more money selling your data than from your shopping at their stores.

yeah, it's that someone made the business decision at some point that it was more valuable to sell other vendors the fact that I'm searching for something than to sell me that something.... Mind-blowing.

(The Dick's staff near us has been great, but we also generally go in when it's abandoned customer-wise.)
