Pardon the shakey camera, these were what I could grab when I ran outside without a tripod, bracing agianst whatever I could find. Apparently a rocket launch last night, the trail continued following whatever object it was across the sky 'til the object disappeared suddenly, the trail lingering longer.

Very, very cool ... Ahh, the advantages of living on the left coast are being made more apparent every day. But the fall foliage season beckons in New England this weekend.

I recall seeing a launch when I lived out there. Even though we were in San Jose, a coupla hundred miles away, the trail covered the sky. I can only imagine what the view from No. Dakota might have been had we gotten into it with the USSR.
