This is the flat section in the middle. At the beginning is Hollywood Hole (aka Big Friendly), a nice surfing hole as it's fairly large without being a keeper. At 1600 CFS or so some enders are possible out of the river left side, and it's a stable enough hole to do deck dancing and other such stupid stunts.

At the end of the doldrums Goforth Creek flows in under a bridge from the river right. It's a good place to stop, eat lunch, cool the feet and all that stuff. Please don't stop on river left as this is the start of a bear preserve (I've actually seen a black bear lounging on the bank) and they need all the peace and quiet they can get.

I love to hear from my readers, but I get a lot of mail. If you're writing to set up a rafting or other outdoor adventure trip in the southeast Tennessee area, contact the folks at OAR , my favorite outfitters.
