WARNING: SPOILERS AHEAD

Way over on the left hand side of the river, are the set of ledges known as surprise. At higher water levels it is possible to pick and choose down the right hand side, however...

The river is really, really wide here, so when I say "way left" I really mean "about three quartes of the way left". Anyway, you'll see a ledge on the left hand side, there's a rock at the crease in it known as razorback. Vicious pin, don't go there. If you can get comfortably left of it do so, otherwise drop the ledge right then immediately be looking to get left of the line of rocks.

Now is a good time to tell your crew about the indian ruins on the hill up to the right and behind them, or point out the flume up to the right, because there's a rather surprising ledge coming right up. Look for where the water's and be just a little bit right of it, it'll pull you left.

To the left is "dildo rock" sticking out of the ledge. Nasty raft stick or kayak flip. Don't hit it.

I love to hear from my readers, but I get a lot of mail. If you're writing to set up a rafting or other outdoor adventure trip in the southeast Tennessee area, contact the folks at OAR , my favorite outfitters.
