Hmm... 

	'Interactive' is a hairy term, but I prefer Cris's definition, as it
requires that the object acted upon is capable of interpreting and
reacting to the stimulus. Perhaps the intended definition of
'participation' is an addition upon this foundation, incorporating the
notion of a predefined or preexisting context for the interaction...?
The beat of the song, the lyrics, the steps of the dance, the rules that
let us know what is expected.
