World Trade Center

CNN.com and the New York Times websites are completely slammed so I can't link to an article. Maybe Larry can find something on one of this aviation sites. In case you haven't heard, two rather large planes slammed into the World Trade Center in New York City this morning.

Looks like another plane hit the Pentagon as well!

The pentagon was also hit. Both WTC towers have collapsed. Manhattan looks like something out of a horror movie.

From TV reports:

The second WTC tower was hit by American Airlines flight 11, en route from Logan International Airport (Boston) to LA, which was hijacked, diverted to JFK, feigned preparations for landing, and then turned around and aimed for the tower. The other two planes may have taken off from Logan as well.

There are reports of a car bomb exploding outside the Pentagon, as well.

There was also a plane crash in Pennsylvania, although it's not clear whether this is terrorism or coincidence.

The FAA reports that about five other airplanes are unaccounted for.

According to Kuwaiti news (a co-worker has a sister in Kuwait who just phoned in), another plane hit Camp David.

I'm sure this has already been cleared up but just in case:

  1. 2 planes hit one World Trade Center tower each - both buildings eventually collapsed, plus one smaller nearby building (WTC 7)
  2. 1 plane hit the Pentagon
  3. 1 plane went down in Pennsylvania, presumably headed for Camp David (9/11/78 was the Carter Camp David accord)

all other planes have since been accounted for...
