Evolution Beta 1.2 just came out and I'm thinking about giving it a whirl. I'm actually a pretty big Office fan including Outlook but Ximian has put together some of the tightest desktop software in the linux world. Are there some Ximian simians out there that wish to evangelize or warn of stumbling points???

I think the last version of Evolution I worked with was 1.1. They've done a really good job of cloning Outlook, but then I don't like Outlook. (It's not just the security issues, I don't like the look and feel of it.) In the versions I worked with I thought there were several small details that needed to be worked on - nothing that made the app unusable but rather small annoyances:
- When using the Next/Previous arrows to go through the messages (with an open message - I don't use the Preview Pane), the last message doesn't close automatically when you move "past" it.
- Sometimes, the cursor focus would get all screwed up. The blinking 'I' bar would tell me that I'm in the subject line but text would appear in the body - or worse, the address box - when I typed. Forcing the focus to change sometimes required multiple clicks/attempts to move the focus around from widget to widget. I'd be inclined to suspect this was a Window Manager issue, but Evolution was the only app to exhibit this behavior.
There were several others, but it's been about three months since I've even seen Evolution so they're not coming easily to mind.
I did like the built-in RDF/RSS support/functionality though, even if I didn't know that's what it was at the time ;-)
