Let's talk about another real problem that isn't. I know that I'm a privileged white male, and that there are very valid reasons for people to want to have identities under pseudonyms or that are removed from their physical selves, but those are largely outliers.

I will believe that privacy is an issue as soon as I start getting "social media" spam that says "I can help you lose thousands of followers".

I will give credit card companies my medical records if they'll not send me any more "courtesy checks" until after I've had a lobotomy.

There are some valid concerns, but if we're going to address them it'll be through end-to-end encryption, not trusting intermediaries.
