Growing in a pot
decorating the side of the pool in Cancun was this odd fruit. Follow the link
for related pictures. The plant had long thorns. The fruit was sweet with an
oddly spiced note. What the heck is it?

The general shape looks somewhat persimmon-ish, but the ones I'm familiar with don't have that defined a seed region, and they grow on trees. You didn't happen to grab leaf pictures or anything, did you?
