Going back to IRC

Frank Paynter abandons Twitter, following Bill Meloney: I’m going back to IRC … See you there. I'm not quite ready to give up on Twitter, and IRC has its own shortcomings, but the points are all valid.

As soon as I posted that I rushed right over to twitter to announce that it had been posted. The whole social networking phenomenon has its uses, but I find it also a distraction that detracts from the warm fuzziness of friendly interactions with real people. In fact, instead of "twitter" I think they should call it "cyber-crack."

abandoning twitter is like abandoning the telephone in the last part of the 1800's. "i don't get the telephone, so i'm going back to smoke signals"

I think it's like abandoning Chevy in the 1970s...
