Carry your WiFi with you

This article about Verizon's attempt to grab iPad traffic for its own network alerted me to the existence of Verizon's MiFi 2200, a WiFi to Verizon's data service device. That's kinda cool...

Can't blame Verizon for doing this...it's best for them to go after it while the market is new and they still have a chance.

I've seen the mifi promoted for carpooling -- share with your pals. Neat idea. Quite different from earthlink telling me (>10 yrs ago) that I could only have 1 cptr connected to the dsl connection. (obviously, I cloned the mac address to the router and thumbed my nose.)

I've been lusting after the MiFi for a few months now (since I only have an iPad Touch, not he iPhone), but word on the street is that the subsidized ones come with unspecified/unclear restrictions (since they're not sold directly by Verizon) and I've heard that Sprint's is a bit more "open".
