Workshop: Engineer #1 is unavailable for 3 weeks. Engineer #2 says "go conventional". Architect says "should be 2 hours of engineer time".

On a number of occasions, I chose quick/cheap/convenient over what I'd really like, and regretted it later. Just sayin'

After all, you are putting Festool products in this space.

Life is too short to kludge with bad tools.. unless that is the point or you are very far from civilization.

Yeah, y'all are making good points. I've got one engineer who won't be available for a few weeks but who's been described as "kinda quirky" and the sort of person who might get along really well with this project. I realize that I'm not going to make a good case that everything I've got lined up is okay merely under the prescriptive building code notions without an engineer involved, but if I can just get a few hours of time I think maybe this can work.

And then it'll be a project I can crow about a bit.
