Bikes vs Jet Blue

Awesome! Cyclists challenge JetBlue to a cross-town race. You've probably heard that this weekend the 405 in LA will be closed, an event being referred to as Carmageddon". JetBlue is offering a $4 flight from Burbank to Long Beach. The Wolfpack Hustle bicycle crew has decided to race from a home in Burbank to the Long Beach Aquarium, while Joe Anthony does the same trip via airplane.

So did the bikers win? I would imagine they would be faster then having to go arrive early @ the airport, go through security, and then get off the plane to find another mode of transportation.

Bikes won. As did an inline skater, apparently.

I'd also note that for short haul, like the Bay Area to LA (Let alone one part of LA to another), the security theatre is becoming a substantial part of the flight time, and means that the bias is falling even further towards driving.
