I love the strip-of-webbing seatbelt.

They never really got it out of ground effect, but it's still cool.

I've been thinking a bunch recently about hybrid copter designs. Seems like a bunch of rotors with independent motors, and maybe two power sources, could at give you something that would have a fairly high but controllable sink rate under various failure scenarios that'd leave you in autorotation or worse with a modern conventional helicopter.

4 lifting rotors and 2 power generation sources seems like it could be built with a control system that could still be survivable with the failure of a lift rotor assembly or a power source, and give the mechanical simplicity of fixed pitch rotors...
