[Fred Rogers flips the bird] I have no idea why I find this as absolutely hilarious as I do, but... Context in this YouTube video.

I remember watching this segment (or one just like it) with my son Ben, probably circa 1987. It was just so innocent. Fred Rogers was a wonderful human being. TV could use another role model half as good for children.

Ben adored him - he wrote him a letter and sent him an Alaska refrigerator magnet. Somewhere I probably have the letter we received in response.

Yeah, so innocent, and yet just enough of a smile that I get the impression that he also knows he's sending a message to the adults. The really good kids material both doesn't talk down to the kids, but also talks to the adults. I think Fred Rogers did that, and that's part of why I find this so hilarious.

I also had my choice of screen grabs, there's the other one with both fingers up, but his smile isn't there and I think it looses something in that translation.
