Dear, The Daily Show

Although we all know and love The Daily Show, they do fuck up occasionally. Duchess St. Rollins: Dear, The Daily Show… calls them out.

I don't hold much respect for teabaggers, really; they make some of the right noises, but they're mainly for cutting taxes and not the budget, much like the rest of the neocons. They don't have the stomach for fiscal conservativism, and the records of actual tea party candidates seems to have borne this out.

Later addendum:

I also follow a number of self-identified "tea party" people closer to Petaluma on Twitter, wading through the Agenda 21 and similar paranoia, and if calling Obama a socialist for things that Reagan and Romney were involved in, while praising Romney, isn't an indication of racism, at the very least it's an indication of some severe cognitive dissonance.

It's been a while, but the last one I was at, in Grass Valley California, had people making extensive use of the word "nigger".

See also the "Obama is a Muslim" rhetoric, which appears to be based on nothing other than similar skin colors.

Actually, I haven't heard of any significant Tea Party rallies in the last eighteen months in my area. In fact, the only people I've heard invoke the Tea Party in the last nine months have been Democrats.

Yes I have, several times, and I've never seen anything at any of them that was remotely bigoted, unless you consider opposing President Obama's policies to be de facto racism, which would be sad beyond description.

Been to a tea party rally? That element was certainly there at the ones I've seen, and definitely deserves to get called out.

Huh. Read to me as just another far-left-wing screed (especially the part about how all the Tea Party members are knuckle-dragging bigots who want to starve children). I liked this, though, about the DS report on the accusation that women working in the White House are paid less than men: "and the sloppy “study” they did was inherently flawed since they didn’t take into account which specific jobs the men and women performed or how long they’d been doing them." Welcome to the real world. Many of us have raised that specific objection about most studies which purport to show a sex bias in pay.
