I have a laptop here at the house that I was about to put Ubuntu on. I think I'll go with Kubuntu when I do.

I've been really happy with Bodhi (Minimal Ubuntu + Enlightenment) for both development desktops and laptops. http://www.bodhilinux.org With just a couple of clicks for mouse preferences (click on window (instead of just titlebar) for focus) it works like almost everything I've used since 1994.
Yeah, I've evolved elsewhere.. Am using a Mac for business stuff, and running some Redhat/Fedora/CentOS as well on systems. But I really like a clean minimal yet powerful X interface.
