e-book failure

2013-11-21 23:37:13.072069+00 by Dan Lyke 2 comments

Switch to e-books was 'an unmitigated disaster', says Mountrath Community College in Laois Ireland school principal:

“The HP Elite Pad has proved to be an unmitigated disaster. We have met with HP representatives on a number of occasions to address the issues.

“To ensure stability and continuity of education I have ordered a full set of books for all the students.”

The number of "e-..." buzzwords spewed in the quotes of that article is truly epic. I'm guessing the HP account manager in question has fantastic legs.

Really? I mean, isn't it sexist to assume that Ms. School Principal makes her decisions based on the looks of her male vendors. Or do I have that bassackwards?

even in jest, this comment caught me up sideways and I'd love a convo about it. Tho I don't check Flutterby (I'd abbreviate to fb, but that's been usurped!) often enough to have a convo....still...what gives?

The principal's name is Martin Gleeson, which I believe to indicate male gender. And the comment was influenced by exposure to account managers who seem to have little understanding of the technical issues involved, but the ability to schmooze the living daylights out of other people who don't understand the technical issues but are easily influenced.
