Sex, drugs and technology

When I started Flutterby, I wanted to make it a site that I'd like to read. I've turned on the ability of a few more people to post to the front page, hopefully they'll try to turn Flutterby into the site they'd like to read. It's an experiment, I'm hoping that the Flutterby feel will remain, that people with more to say than this site can hold will maintain or start their own blogs, and this place will evolve to become more collaborative and surprise me. I'll probably have to add main page filtering and a few other features, all part of the evolution.

Despite John's assertion that it's a weblog, Flutterby is going non-weblog directions, and it's time that I let it become the community I think it should be and put up a vastly more personal site elsewhere.

Yay Flutterby Community! Welcome Dori, Meuon, Pete, Petronius and Ziffle. It's no secret that I've been coercing Dan to go this direction, so I am totally looking forward to seeing interesting stuff land on flutterby. No punishment link today (had a picture of an Osama doll in a dress).

Sorry Dan, I always thought of it as a community I aspired to be a contibuting part of. You have always had the most sincere interest in, and the best natural abilities in building communities of anyone I have ever met. You are a social animal, and a collector of interesting people whom often have nothing in common than you and that they are interesting competent people.

I have to say that Flutterby is one of those rare sites - it has gotten better and better since I started reading it! Over the past month, there's been at least one topic or idea that really interested me, every day! This is a lot more than I can say for most of the other sites I read. (Memepool seems to have gone brain-dead lately, for instance.)

Obviously, the difference between Flutterby and Memepool is the people here, and more of the interaction.. Add to that the fact that there is a focus on Northern California (where I live), and it becomes a lot more personal.

So, bravo!
