Perhaps, but that push on ease of use over thinking about security is what's given Microsoft worlds of security hurt.

I was going to comment on how Microsoft's security issues were the outgrowth of trying to make user obsequious software, how security depends so much on use patterns and users wouldn't stand for being coerced into secure use patterns...

But then Dori linked to Jim Allchin on Windows security and realized that perhaps flaming incompetence is closer to the mark.

Given that, though, Allchin scares the shit out of me. I've read enough of what he says to be convinced that he's very smart but completely believes the crap he spouts. Those people are scary.
