Just when I start to feel like I need to trust the government, a reality check: Louisian judge indicted for planting drugs.

The story doesn't tell you that this judge was "tough on crime" when he got elected. Just FYI.

The thing is, that you're all acting like this is in some way surprising. Louisiana makes the Soviet Union look like a model of purity and honesty in government, and always has.

Sheesh, babes in the woods, I tell ya...babes in the woods.

I'm staying out of this as a former Louisianian, but in general I'm with Dylan on this.

I'm more surprised that the judge was indicted than at what he was indicted for doing. It's not that I'm cynical, it's that I was raised in Jefferson Parish.

And, in the newspaper today, there was an article about 80+ arrests being made because they are rooting out corruption in City Hall. Over 80 arrests! I'm amazed. Now, will we get any indictments? Who knows, but it looks like we're on the right path.

The new mayor's right-hand-woman found a tape left behind in her office that contained recordings implicating individuals in the misappropriation of $1million+. I guess whoever left it wasn't too concerned because they thought that the new administration wasn't going to change much from the old one.

Oh, and did I mention that the previous Mayor Marc Morial tried to get the city charter amended "Just for me" so that he could run a third term? Didn't work.

Things, they may be changing.
