Mozilla 1.1

2002-09-04 09:56:07+02 by Shawn 0 comments

Being a Mozilla fan, I downloaded and installed the latest release; 1.1 I'd like to warn anyone who's thinking about doing the same that while this isn't clearly marked as a beta release it is referred to as "bleading edge" in passing and does appear to have a few odd quirks.

The two that stand out for me are: 1) I've had some graphic files (JPGs) load completely and then disappear, leaving me with a message that there is an error in the file. I have only noticed this behavior over on Voyeurweb though, and I suspect that it has more to do with some authentication scheme incompatiblity since they seem to be implementing such functionality lately. And, 2) invoking the browser from anywhere else (a shortcut, a link in e-mail, etc.) will randomly load the page in either a new browser window or an existing one, although most often the latter. (Behavior in previous versions was to open a new browser instance.)
