Congrats New York. I'm disappointed we didn't get the bid but hopefully New York will make us all proud.

I don't wanna always be the curmudgeon, but: "Yay".

I mean, besides the obvious, that we didn't do enough "career counseling" for the children of the committee members, sports of any sort primarily suck money from the local economies, in the case of the Olympics the athletes don't even get to see any of that money.

Like the United Nations, the Olympics are founded on noble ideals and espouse them as the goals, but the real goals have become lining the pockets of the people in charge and people they make secretive deals with. Power corrupts.

Considering the mess the US has been making in the foreign policy arena, throwing its weight around in its efforts to "pacify" the Middle East, something tells me we won't be seeing another olympics here for a long time...

Shadow, as has been pointed out, its a money thing anymore. We will get the Olympics again because that is where the money is going to place them.
