Waaaaah!

Just a gentle reminder to Columbine that some of us are waiting for Mei Wah pages 34+. I'm printing them out in preparation for the Hong Kong trip, figuring that since I've been helping Alec cram for finals I should do a little cramming myself.

hrm. ok, Dan, I'll see what I can do.

I should warn you that I got a letter some weeks back telling me that one of my signs had a meaning nothing near what I postulated and that I shouldn't try to write about things I knew nothing about. (I replied something about this being a horribly dismissive reply, and later got an apology, but it stung anyhow.)

The latter section with the menu items - yes, the section I haven't finished - is somewhat less prone to these misinterpretations.

P.S. Although I believe a lot of the SARS hysteria is exactly that, I DO have to ask if you are worried about that aspect of a trip to Hong Kong.

If I can get enough so that I can figure out the chicken, fish or seafood, and maybe noodles, rice, and a few smaller distinctions about spices I'll be way happy. Besides, I'm transcribing your signs on to a smaller reference card, I figure updating that from the menus I can decipher will be a good conversation opener.

I wasn't really worried about SARS before, but Charlene, my boss, and a few other friends were. I think they've only had one or two new infections since it got warmer, all the action is happening on the mainland.
