Buffett poly?

Is Warren Buffett poly?

Mr Buffett's Latvian-born bride, Astrid Menks, is 60 to her husband's 76. The pair have been living together since the late 1970s. Nothing unusual about that, except that Mr Buffett had an apparently close and loving marriage to another woman, Susan, until her death in 2004. The trio even sent out Christmas cards signed "Warren, Susie and Astrid".

Eccentric. He is rich, therefore he is 'eccentric'. And very loving.

I aspire to be rich enough some day to be 'eccentric', right now I'm just crazy.

From Wikipedia, "Buffett married Susan Thompson in 1952.... The couple began living separately in 1977 but remained married..."

Of course, Wikipedia is the crazed shrieking of maniacs, but that sounds like a "conventional" estranged marriage.

Yeah, Susan Thompson moved to San Francisco in '77 to pursue singing, and it seems set up Buffett with Astrid Menks when she left. It's unclear how close they were after that, although if they were sending out cards with all three names on it, that may have some implications.

ie: There are lots of potential explanations, but I like this theory [grin]!

I didn't even know this was news... when I heard the headline saying that his wife had died, I asked Tom, "which one?"

Rummaging around, this was probably the article where I first read it. Given that in 1999 his sole heir was his then-wife Susan, I wouldn't call it a "conventional estranged marriage."
