MythTV

MythTV is Open Source software that turns a Linux computer into a Personal Video Recorder (PVR) - much like a TiVo device. The benefits of setting up a MythTV box are:

• It's free. There is no charge for the software and no subscription fee.
• Available plug-ins provide additional functionality, such as weather information, games, etc.
• No advertising schemes (since the makers of MythTV are not trying to generate revenue from the product).
• Since MythTV is not a commercial product it is expected to not be bound by the FCC's broadcast flag requirements.
• Available themes allow you to change the look of the screens.
