Cartoonist Doug Marlette dead in a car crash at age 57. Unlike Columbine, I liked his strip "Kudzu" (at least in its earlier years, it wasn't one that made it to my currently followed list), I thought he captured the essence of Southern culture in a way similar to Lewis Grizzard, of an insider who understood how it looked from the outside. But his political and editorial cartoons also had the necessary level of nastiness and bite.
