Buy Back Alaska! proposes that, since it seems like you can buy a state legislator for about a quarter of a million dollars a year, the citizens of Alaska would be better served if they were buying the state legislators, rather than the special interest groups.

Pay House and Senate members $1,000,000/year -- about 6x what they get now. Do not allow them to work for anyone for six years after they leave office, but rather pension them off at that same rate. This would probably result in the best and cheapest Congress we have ever had.

I still think that Congress should be appointed through a system like jury duty. Lawyers have a vested interested in writing complex laws and should thus be barred from serving as legislators. And yeah, pay them enough so that there's no question of needing to take bribes. Then make bribery a capital offense!
