Living in the future

Feeling old day: last night, helping Charlene with her astronomy homework I was reminded that the theory of
plate tectonics is only a little older than I am. And now we're looking at those mechanisms on other planets.
Every time I pick up my iPhone I'm reminded that when me, meuon et al saw the future of the Internet, I think
this device was beyond our horizon, and now I whine about it's limits. And a thread about
fonts over at Columbine's place has reminded me that I once weilded pieces of cast metal to do what my
$89 scanner/copier/printer does at close to ten thousand DPI.
Screw the flying car, I really do live in the future!

Yeah, but I still feel ripped off about the flying cars.

Flying cars can be made cheaper and are more fuel efficient, even with VTOL. It's a global government conspiracy to keep them away from us. Pick an excuse:
- we can barely drive cars safely, on roads.
- it is hard to enforce national borders
- they want the airspace for the military
- the aliens that are the source of the energy and flying technology want license fees (of tasty human flesh).
- the free and safe energy technology (runs on water) might destabilize our energy centric society
- all of the above

And just a few years ago I didn't think I could possibly be ordering Christmas stocking stuffers from China via Ebay.
I've seen these Bluetooth USB dongles as low as $1.65 each, and I'm sure there are some that could be had for even less.
