TARP stands for Troubled Asset Relief Program but also have them referred to as Toxic Assets...... How is it that the government ( taxpayers) only participate in the downside? And then, we hear of round after round of bonuses being paid, whilst we get boned? Those weasels are only in favor of market forces when they work to their advantage. I am but a simple Carpenter, but why is it glaringly obvious that failure is being rewarded? If I screw up, buildings fall down, but of course I am not "too big to fail".... but I am smart enough not to....

Chris, you just summed it up. Government of the people by the people and for the people has been supplanted by government of the people by the corrupted for the wealthy. Government isn't the problem - corrupting wealth is the problem. Until we insulate gov't from being bought, we're screwed.

Those with resources will always use them to maintain their advantages. You say that we are in deep shit until a time when money doesn't talk? Hell, money doesn't talk, it screams. There will always be those who find a way to subvert the process, physicists have proven that greed is a much more powerful pervasive force than even gravity :)
