AT&T bought T-Mobile? We were looking at switching to T-Mobile because they actually had happy customers. Guess that's gonna change...

Ouch. That will be the two big GSM carriers in the USA merged.

Damn it. One reason I never got an iphone was that I wanted nothing to do with AT&T. Now they've gone and bought the decent carrier.
Maybe it's time to get out of the cell phone game.

Yep. When we were looking for carriers, T-Mobile was the one company I couldn't find anyone to say anything bad about. Now that I'm back on a traditional cell phone from the iPhone, I'm convinced that not all of the badness is Apple's fault. So now it's really becoming a "hold your nose and sign a contract" issue as our re-up comes around in May.

Why sign a contract at all? I've been looking at cell plans lately (I'm out of contract in August) and the best ones I've found are the pre-paid ones.

Pre-paid non-locked is the way to go...

I put Asha on a pre-paid Verizon plan almost 2 years ago. Costs about $8/month but you have to buy the $100 card at least once a year.

Darnit, less competition generally means higher prices for us consumers... :/
